Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

After staying at the Grand Geneva for several nights, we figured we should try out one of their restaurants. We took the Ultimate Dessert Experience for $10 earlier in the day and received 10% that evening at Brissago if we dined. The pastry chef Brian was fun in the dessert class and I got to ask him about the restaurant and what to expect. It's Northern Italian modern cuisine. The pizza and pasta sauces are all very light. Not the heavy kind. I prefer the thick pizzas and creamy sauces but these were not. Nevertheless, the dishes were quality. I asked Pastry Chef Brian about a review I read on here about canned tomatoes used in a dish that someone posted about. He explained that they only use one particular jar of tomatoes that they import direct from Italy. San Marsano tomatoes, which you can only really get there, authentic. It is used on one pizza in particular. All of their seafood is high quality they also bring in fresh. They fly ingredients in twice a week from Italy directly. With all of this, the food is good but really pricey. I ordered the Lobster spaghetti. The lobster on top was easy to eat and really fresh and flavorful. The pasta is what the chef calls guitar pasta made from scratch over a guitar fret/frame thing he fashioned himself. The pasta and cream sauce was good. Really delicate and light. On my next trip, I plan to order the Wild Sea Bass. Looks so yummy. My boyfriend ordered the wild mushroom and proscuitto pizza. Which had light sauce and light crust. He loved it and it did have good flavor. They also brought out the desserts we had created from our class earlier that day to eat after dinner. =) The service was good. A little slow on refilling our waters but okay otherwise. A very pricey night out for dinner, so it would have to be a special occasion to eat there unless you are loaded with money...

My boyfriend ordered the Prawns with a tomato purée and polenta. The dish was horrible, the tomato purée had absolutely no taste to it. We later find out from our waitress the tomatoes are imported and are in a GLASS CONTAINER, mind you this is a Italian restaurant. If Gordon Ramsay was here he'd be telling them how shameful they are to have the audacity to use tomatoes from a glass jar, Even I make my own marinara sauce from fresh tomatoes. It's unfortunate when you go out to a nice and "expensive" dinner you expect the food to be amazing but unfortunately it was not. There were other things regarding the Grand Geneva Resort itself and would never come back.

Vacationing with our 2 1/2 year old son in march 2011. We like to eat well, even with our small son with us. He was very good, we ate early and the servers were very nice about us having him with us. We had an amazing meal and a great time! They even altered the dishes so we would enjoy them more. Sea bass, casoulet, and scallop app. Were all amazing! Coming from Chicago, that is saying a lot!

Had a great experience on Friday night at Brissago. Great service and amazing food. My wife and I split the Beef Tenderloin and the spaghetti with Lobster and both were close to perfect. The server split our entrees onto separate plates for us without being asked, and he even brought out a glass of sparkling grapejuice for my pregnant wife just as a courtesy. We will be back to try the rest of the menu!

I went up for a weekend with a friend to Lake Geneva. We had a group of four for dinner. We made reservations the day before so it was nice that they could accommodate us on short notice. The service as excellent and I do want to give Ms. Sherrie some recognition. She took excellent care of us. I started off the dinner with a martini. I usually don't drink martinis but it was pretty good. It had some sort of floating sorbet. We also had a couple bottles of their Chardonnay. I can't recall what brand it was, but it was very good. As for dinner, I started off with the caprese salad. The tomatoes and mozzarella were great and fresh. For my main course, I had the Lamb Shank. It was excellent! It was cooked to perfection and had a red sauce. It also came with polenta which was also excellent. As great as my dinner was, the dessert was even better. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but the tiramisu was AMAZING. I'm from Chicago and we have our fair share of excellent Italian restaurants. However, I have never had as good of a tiramisu as I have had at this place. I know they make their desserts onsite so I have to definitely give props to the dessert/pastry chefs. The place is definitely worth coming back to when I'm in Lake Geneva again.

Dinner sucked! The highlight of a fine dining experience should not be the waitress, but it was. The meal was slow, tasteless and expensive. I have never taken the time to write one of these but just signed up so that I could let everyone know how bad my meal was. I am not a food snob, but a little flavor would be nice! Both soups (Minestrone and Parmesean) were watery and tasteless. The bread was good. My husband's pasta with crab was inedible. There were shells and the meat was tough. The pasta was just that- noodles with oil- no flavor. My ravioli had better flavor but could only eat the centers as the pasta around the middle was crunchy. Skip this place- you could probably get a better meal down the road... at McDonalds.

I wanted to find an amazing place for the first night of our trip to Lake Geneva. After reading reviews on yelp and another travel site, I decided that Brisaggo would be the place to go. The property is beautiful, we didn't have a table in the window but could see the lush countryside from where we were seated. The food was not so beautiful. I had a caprese salad, which was the best part of both of our meals, by far. We were told that the mozzarella is flown in twice a week from Italy and it was delicious. The tomatoes were few and far between and a little overripe-- they don't give you much basil, but the cheese was amazing. My husband had the special salad- he found the dressing to be overpowering and the greens too bitter for his taste, I had a bite and wasn't a fan either. I had a pasta, which came highly recommended by our server- it was an amatriciana, so there was supposed to be some bite, but it was very bland. My husband had the filet, which was okay- nothing special. I can't complain about the service, our waiter was very nice and offered some wine pairing suggestions- which were on spot.

This would have been an easy five star review if we had our fabulous waiter, the mozzarella and tomato salad, the lamb and mushroom over polenta and mango sorbet for dessert - all in a private room. My first complaint was that I was looking for a nice, quiet romantic dinner. This restaurant is at a family resort, and there were kids everywhere. They weren't too badly behaved or anything, but it wasn't the atmosphere I expected. I was disappointed by the scallops - they tasted fishy and the pancetta was overdone.

great recommendations- had the antipasto plate which had really fresh cheese and yummy olives. husband o!rdered seabass which was great and i had the lamb, also great. paparadelle pasta was substituted for the gnocchi and was delicious. would definitely go back

I ate at Brissago this past weekend to celebrate a family member's 40th anniversary. The wine selections and dinner menu are superb. Eduardo is one of the best server's I have ever seen. I felt so taken care of at this restaurant- I can't wait to go back!

was taken here for my birthday, girlfriend surprised me, never been here before and thought it was going to be a great experience. it has great ambiance and very cool to sit at. i was told there was a strict dress code, so i dressed accordingly, but there were children in there with their night clothes! no biggie.. we ordered steaks, mine was over cooked and my girlfriend was as well. food was sent back, then while waiting a man and (I'm assuming his date) sat down behind us. the man began making racial slurs and me being "chocolate thunder" made my appearance very well known. we complained to the manager about the man and his loud voice (probably drunk). we were sent our steaks and the experience was already ruined. the manager comp'd the entrees after the overcooking, but i will NEVER RETURN! food was average to me, dressed up and overpriced. the wine list was a joke, expensive bottles at 300% markup. find somewhere else to take your someone special..

Gluten free and dairy free at an Italian restaurant should be a real challenge. Not here, after ordering the should be famous" wild cherry old fashion. ..amazing, asked server Kate (outstanding) to ask the chef to create something for me that met my needs, amazing chicken with gluten free pasta, can't recommend highly enough!

The best way to eat at Brissago is on someone else's credit card. That way, you can get everything you want. You'll want it all. If you're going to eat in the true Italian style, you should eat at least 3-4 courses. I'll give you the breakdown of what I recommend as must-eats. (There is enough food to share plates with a friend or date.) First course - I loved the calamari. Cooked to perfection, it stayed crispy on the outside but tender on the inside without being the least bit rubbery. If you're used to a side of marinara with this dish, be not afraid! That's not how it's served, but trust me when I say the basil oil or whatever it is accents the delicate seafood flavor beautifully without masking it. Second course - I had the Brissago salad. My thought was, if they're willing to put their name on it, the salad had better be good. With a drizzle of basil citrus vinaigrette, they pair blue cheese and candied pecans (which could do with a teensy bit less candy-ing in my opinion) on a bed of mixed greens, the flavor combination was a good mix for my palate. Third course - The lamb. Oh, the lamb. I've been known to say "the cuter the animal, the better it tastes". This saying rings true in the careful hands of the chefs of Brissago. Mine, prepared to the correct lamb temperature of medium rare, was as tender as any scene from a Nicholas Sparks book. It's accompanied by a mushroom melange and homemade gnocchi that could double as pillows for your mouth. If you're on a budget, splurge on this dish to share for -sure-! Fourth course - While I had the sabayon and enjoyed it (though I think they should have put zabaglione on the menu instead. It is, afterall, Italian while sabayon is French.) I would get the tiramisu instead. I got a taste of it, and the burst of flavor was excellent. We had a private room for our party, so our server was very attentive. She was also knowledgeable about the menu, and made some great suggestions. As I mentioned a long time ago, it is pricey, so I probably won't be back until there's a special occasion, or someone decides to spend their life savings on me.

What I expected from the hotel's restaurant. Not great but certainly a fine meal. Bread and salads were the highlights for me
(3)McKenna S.
Very expensive and will not split up checks for large parties! I would not recommend if you need your check split. Food was fancy and good otherwise.
(2)Christopher B.
Excellent cuisine! Great ambience and a very knowledgeable staff. Try the guitar string pasta with lobster or the filet both are melt in your mouth amazing!
(4)Michele H.
Great place with even better food Definitely get the lobster mirandi angel hair pasta with a delicious sauce! Benjamin is the best server great with kids! If in the Lake Geneva area make this a must eat at!

If your at lake Geneva and staying at the grand Geneva resort and are craving Italian food, but don't want to leave the resort, do not miss out from going to this place. This place accommodates a romantic date night to a group of girls celebrating a bachelorette to a family/ friends vacation getaway with the kids. The food was superb. Unlike many other Italian restaurants this place actually had a decent amount of vegetarian dishes which didn't just consist of baked ziti or fettacinni Alfredo. There seafood selection was the best. I would totally recommend getting the capellini con granchio e prezzemelo ( pasta dish with crab). I usually never finish any of my dishes, but that was definitely not the case this time. The staff was on point. When asked what they recommended we got detailed descriptions of what each dish was made of and what it consisted of. It was amazing to see how well the staff was trained and how friendly they were. To top all of this off, the view in this restaurant is something that none of the other restaurants can beat.

Celebrated our anniversary, the staff was nice and friendly, the location was beautiful and the food was delicious! The portions were a bit on the small side or i was just starving from being in the pool all day :P but I enjoyed my dinner.
(4)Amit T.
Great ambiance, clean and classy place. I am typically not a fan of italian but this place was amazing. The wait staff was on their A game. The view is fantastic, ask for a table near the window!
(5)Scott C.
Food was just average. Pasta entrees were served luke warm. Grilled salmon was excellent but the bed of rice it was served on was not good. Server was very knowledgeable, and friendly. View looking out the window was beautiful. Would be 4 or 5 stars if food was warm

I am so very disappointed. My wife and I took a very large business client out to eat (Friday Night). I had their crab dish and it came over garlic noodles. The noodles had no taste at all, and they had this pressed sea food that was soooo fishy. The crab itself was very good, but I could not get passed the pressed fish. My wife is gluten free and they were very helpful in selecting a dish, but it too was bland. This should never happen in an establishment of this quality. Sorry for the money I would go and try other places in the area. Desert was excellent, as the no flour chocolate cake is incredible. The view is great as well. Service was excellent and so was the wine.

We went here for a fancy dinner during a getaway to Lake Geneva. It did not disappoint! Nite this: Grand Geneva is a little out of the way, so leave early. Especially if you're staying in Fontana (like we were) or Williams Bay. The server was friendly, attentive, and casual enough to be warm without being too casual. The caprese salad was wonderful! Fresh tomatoes with fresh mozzarella they claim was flown in from Italy. The cheese just melted in your mouth. The mistake of these salads is often an overly assertive dressing, but this salad let the ingredients shine! The salmon and polenta dish was lovely! A light sauce coated the fish and the polenta was rich, smooth, buttery, and sinful. My dining companion had the pollo and fresh pasta. You didn't even need the chicken. The pasta is made in house and it's some of the best I've ever tasted. Absolutely fantastic meal. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I were on vacation and wanted to go somewhere romantic. This definitely fit the bill, it was beautiful and had a very serene atmosphere. It was a tad bit more posh than we prefer, but we were dying for pizza (We're not big meat eaters) and wanted something local as opposed to ordering something we could easily get back home. Our waitress Laura? (I think that was her name) was very nice and friendly. She made my Cesar salad table side and was very attentive. We actually had two ladies attend to us. A asset in general is that wine list is all imported from Italy, but neither of us drink so I can't tell you the quality. The pizza was delicious, mister ordered the Margherita pizza I ordered the Formaggio Quattro. Laura(?) informed us everything is imported from Italy weekly. We were not used to being asked if we wanted another slice so she could get it for us as we didn't think she had to serve us that intently. Like I said a little more posh than were used to. We orders the delicious tiramisu to go and went on our way! Very nice evening for sure, highlighted by excellent staff.

I am giving five stars to the Chilean Seabass! Mozarella salad need something, like a balsamic, or pesto, it was very blend. My server Caleb P. was cold, like he was kinda tired. Other servers give a nice spech of recomendation on food and drinks, but I didnt get a special treatment. Attn. to the manager, this server need more training!

Ristorante Brissago was pretty darned great. My husband and I snuck off our first night at Timber Ridge to have a romantic dinner while my brother babysat. The restaurant is on the second floor of the Grand Geneva, and with the lights from the Christmas displays, it was beautiful, warmly lit, and cozy. We started with a bottle of prosecco, the carpaccio, and scallops. All were spectacular, but the scallops with truffle honey and pancetta are really a treat. It's an excellent flavor combination. Pat on the back to whoever whipped that one up. We shared the jumbo lump crab pasta for primi, which was delicious. They split it up for us, and we both got a nice portion of buttery pasta with large chunks of crab. No complaints there. We popped another bottle of prosecco open and headed off to secondi. For entrees, you HAVE to get the sea bass. It was phenomenal. A huge, thick cut of fish, perfectly seared exterior, on top of creamy potatoes and a delicious sauce. The snapper was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. It was supposed to come with "saffron risotto" - which, to me, implies that it was made with Arborio rice. But it wasn't. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't risotto. Dessert was really the only course that fell flat for us. We had a banana chocolate mousse that was beautifully presented, but the textures were all wrong. The layer of bananas inside the mousse were slimy and green, and the chocolate coating came off in a tough, chewy sheet. My husband's panna cotta was okay. HOWEVER - when we had dessert in the main lobby lounge the following night, they brought us desserts from the Chophouse. We were blown away by the creative, delicious combinations - so enjoy the excellent dinner menu at Brissago - but pass on dessert and head to the Chophouse. It's also on the spendy side for what you get. My husband and I ordered like we normally do, and wound up spending about $300. We normally land in the $200-250 range for a similar experience in Milwaukee. But it really was delicious.

Had birthday dinner with the bf last night. Amazing dinner! Food was fantastic and Gabriel, our server was the best! Highly recommend.
(5)Steven M.
Being our second stay at the Grand Geneva, we finally got a chance to try out Brissago. When we walked in, the romantic ambiance hit us right away with the low lighting. Our server Gabriel knew about every single item and wine on the menu, and was extremely nice and friendly. The complimentary bread and olive oil was a great touch while we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. Next, we moved on to the Zuppa Toscana which was the final step prepared tableside - a great and artistic touch! The soup was absolutely delicious and perfectly spicy too. Our waiter was very attentive the entire evening and then brought out our main courses: Tagalitelli con l'Aragosta Lemirandi and Pappardelle alla Bolognese. Both were absolutely out of this world and worth every penny. The lobster in the first dish was cooked perfectly, while the Bolognese sauce in the second dish was cooked with care and seasoned correctly. Overall, the evening at Brissago was wonderful and did not disappoint. We can't wait to come here again on our next trip to Lake Geneva!!!

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for the second time. Our first time here was about 6 years ago, we celebrated our anniversary on Super Bowl Sunday, and needless to say it was pretty quiet. We were one of three tables and the service and food were amazing! This visit, we booked through Open Table. A 7:00pm reservation for Saturday February 7th. I made a comment in the comment section when booking that it was our anniversary, and that we had been there before. Upon checking into our room at Lazy Cloud Inn (great place BTW) my husband found his dress pants extremely wrinkled. With no iron we tried to get the wrinkles out using the shower steam to no avail. I told him the jeans he had brought would be better than the wrinkled pants. This may have been our down fall. When we arrived at the restaurant and told them we had a reservation we were promptly seated at the farthest corner of the restaurant. While walking past tables we noticed 2 tables with rose petals on them. During our first visit, we had received not only rose petals but also a complementary taste of champagne. I was disappointed to see neither rose petals, nor champagne on our table this time. Hmmmmm. When our waitress came to greet us she acknowledged our anniversary and asked us if we would like a beverage. We looked over the wine list, and attempted to make some inferences as to the notes we prefer in our wine. They were all italian imports so we asked the waitress's opinion. The waitress suggested the CHEAPEST bottle on the list, a whopping 30 dollars a bottle. Knowing how restaurants mark up alcohol, this means this was *maybe* a 12 dollar bottle if wine. We obliged he offer to taste. Horrible. It tasted even cheaper. I'm surprised it wasn't twist off. She sent over a different waitress who offered us tastes from the next two cheapest bottles. Wanting to get on to ordering, I told my husband to pick one, both were very cheap tasting. I am a wine snob and usually prefer bottles in the 40-60 dollar range for special occasions, which this was. When she returned we placed our order. The Cozze Al Vino-Pei and the Insalata Casalinga Alla Brissago. The first was mussels, the second a salad. They were both alright. The mussels were cooked well, although the sauce was missing something, it tastes watery as opposed to a wine sauce, and my husband did notice some "grit" in a few mussels. My salad was great, no complaints. I had decided I couldn't muster the terrible wine anymore, so I ordered a glass of Pinot Nero (Pinot noir). 14 dollars for the glass and a million percent better than the other "stuff". Our table conversation was basically how I felt that we were being snubbed because we don't look like the average clientele. How romantic. For our entrees my husband ordered the Saltimbocca, and I ordered the Tagalitelli Con L'Aragosta Lemirandi. when our entrees arrived my lobster was extremely overcooked. I ate half of the tail, not wanting to be "that" customer, but when she asked how everything was I mentioned it was extremely overcooked. She promptly took the tail away (a bit dramatically) with a "oh my goodness! I want you to be happy! I'll get you another right away!!" The next tail was slightly underdone, but I said nothing. At this point I wanted to pay the check and leave. They brought us a "complementary sliver of a chocolate dessert "for our anniversary", we ate it quickly, paid our 160 dollar check and got the Hell out. I used to tell all of my clients to visit this restaurant when they visited Lake Geneva. I don't think I would recommend this restaurant to anyone now. I was so severely disappointed. I will never visit Brissago again, and unfortunately they have tarnished the memory of our first visit as I believe they are only capable of great service with a very small number of tables.

Yum! Came here while staying at Grand Geneva and had a wonderful meal with my boyfriend for dinner. We were celebrating Christmas and felt it was a great relaxing way to spend some time together before the craziness of the season began. We had a great three hour meal where we didn't feel rushed at all. We had a feast: bruschetta, scallops, some kind of delicious broth based homemade soup, handmade tagliatelle, lamb with roasted veggies, and a banana tart. Everything was good, but my favorite was the handmade pasta. It came with lobster tail and they split everything very nicely. I didn't think the lobster tail was that buttery and the scallops were not the freshest I have ever tasted. But nothing was bad. Our server was very nice and answered all our questions. The whole experience was wonderful and I will come back if looking for a place to eat on site.

I was at The Grand Geneva Resort for two day work retreat and while there, we went to both of their restaurants for dinner. Because we were a large group, we were offered options from a prix fixe menu at both places. The first night, we went to Ristorante Brissago. We were seated at a very large table right in front of the bar. We started off with a cheese board and bread. They didn't bring them all out at the same time, so part of the table was hanging out while the bread was inhaled. When I asked the server for more bread, she never brought any over. The first time of many that this happened throughout the duration of the meal. I ordered a bottle of wine to split with three other people. The server never came back to refill glasses, and given the fact that we were pretty spread out, it made it difficult for everyone to access the bottle. Next up was a salad course--we weren't offered an option; however it was good. One of my co-workers has a million food allergies, and they were able to accommodate her with a different salad option. On our menu, the main course options were sea bass, chicken, and lamb. I went with the sea bass that came in a lobster essence. It was phenomenal! We ended dinner with the tiramisu, which was also fantastic! I was exhausted from a full day of traveling before arriving there, and all I wanted to do, was go to bed. We required separate checks for alcohol, and the server took about twenty minutes after everyone finished their meal to bring them over. The server seemed to be in college and rather immature and young. For example, while we were waiting for our checks, she was goofing around and laughing with the bartender at the computer right in front of us. She also waved them in the air when people began to wonder what was taking so long. The food was great, the service, not so much.
(3)Kat S.
We were here this past weekend. We decided to try something at the resort since we were staying there. I really liked the food along with our service. we could not read the menu since it was all in Italian but our server really knew the menu. This is really pricy but for a once in while deal i would defiantly come back.
(5)Mark K.
Probably 3.5 stars. Food was very good. But something very strange is happening at this resort. One observation. Young staff are running these places! I mean young. No offense, as they seem polite and actually somewhat knowledgable about the menu, but they clearly do not have the experience. Little things that are important like telling a walk in couple it will be 10 to 15 minutes (at 8:30pm) to be seated while there are many open tables is odd and annoying. Same thing happened to us at their Chop House restaurant. That said, Let me tell u the staff was working overtime so I'm not really complaining. Example, a young lady by the name of Kate served as hostess, bus person, server, table setter, you name it. She deserves a raise! Louis was also good as he spoke with conviction about certain dishes and was right on point.
(4)Aaron G.
This place deserves 5 stars! We had out Valentines Day dinner here last night. It was one of the best dining experience my fiancé and I have had! We started out with the Carpaccio, it was superb! We then had the Caesar salad made table-side, which was a nice touch. We both had the filet (mine was topped with lobster ravioli) on top of some of the most amazing mashed potatoes we have had! We ended the evening with complimentary valentine cheesecake pops. Overall we had a phenomenal experience & will definitely be returning, hoping to have the same waitress! She was knowledgeable and fabulous (wish I remembered her name) xoxo

Definitely recommend this place. Very thorough and attentive staff that did a superb job.

Highly recommended! Great food, wine, and service. The food was unique and fantastic. Our group had many different dishes, and all were pleased. A+

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary. The service was just okay. I ordered a martini that was not good at all. I told him I didn't like it and he didnt even ask if I wanted something different until 15 minutes later when he realized I hadn't even taken a sip. Ordered something different and it came back made wrong. Luckily the woman manager was walking around to tables and was extremely nice and brought me the correct martini. Our food was okay nothing too crazy. They won us over though by bringing a dessert out with a cute piece of chocolate that has happy anniversary written all over it. Overall we had an okay experience and would probably give it a try again since we"ve heard such good things

This was one of the best meals I had ever had, and that's a lot coming from a foodie like myself! My husband and I chose to celebrate here for our first year anniversary. While the main entrance was difficult to find in the dark (we didn't stay at the Grand Geneva so we drove around until we saw lights), I'm thankful we searched until we found it. I was hesitant at booking our dinner here, as the restaurant is located in the upstairs of a hotel, but after you enter you would never believe it. We've always said that we could have the best-tasting meal of our life, but if the service didn't match, it wouldn't be worth it. This did. Eduardo was INCREDIBLE! He was professional yet funny, answered all of our questions (in fact, encouraged them!), and truely was amazing at his job and certainly was loyal to the restaurant. He sold us from the start. DRINK: We enjoyed a $45 bottle of Barbera d'Asti. Awesome price for a bottle of wine. APPETIZERS: We truely wanted to spoil ourselves and not worry about cost. We started with the Scallops with Truffle Honey and Pancetta. WOW. While we were skeptical of the $16 price tag for 3 scallops, the flavor was worth it. What an incredible pairing! We also split the Caprese. The mozzarella was unlike anything I've had before - not as firm as what you typically have, but moreso than a burrata. The taste was fantastic, the oil was rich and the heirloom tomatoes were well-seasoned and delicious. The micro-basil was fun and different too. MAIN COURSE: We asked for recommendations and settled on two of Eduardo's suggestions (he suggested many, which we liked, and not only the expensive dishes!). My husband had the Sea Bass...what a cut of meat! The fish was larger than any portion I had ever seen, and he couldn't stick a fork in it without it falling apart it was so tender. I had the Lobster with Tagalitelli - WOW. The pasta tasted like...pasta! And I received an entire lobster tail ontop! This was incredible and I can't rave enough about how awesome, rich and delicious it tasted. --Neither of the portions were so huge that they couldn't be finished, which we were grateful for since this wouldn't have been a meal to reheat. Both were completely manageable even with two appetizers. DESSERT: While we didn't really need it, we opted for the Tirimisu. It had a stronger coffee taste than others we had tasted before (great for me, not so great for the hubs). At the end of our meal, Eduardo presented us with two glasses of champagne in celebration of our anniversary, and happily took photos of us as well. What a novel of a review! But this restaurant and Eduardo's service deserve no less. Disregard that this restaurant is in a hotel and take the small hike outside of downtown Lake Geneva to visit this gem.

The food was very good! The service we had was less than satisfactory for the quality of the restaurant. For starters the menu items are in Italian. We informed our server that we had not been to the restaurant before and asked several questions. He was kind of vague and didn't seem to know. When I asked about beer he didn't know what they had. This was made all the more frustrating by watching a different server at the table next to ours go through the entire menu with them, make suggestions, and answer their questions knowledgeably. Our experience wasn't terrible and it would appear that there are wonderful servers there. For the quality and style of the restaurant though I would think all the service would be top notch.

My very large, very picky family ate at Brissago just last week and had an excellent experience. We love the elegance of the Grand Geneva and Brissago really lives up to expectations. The waiter, Jeff, was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu which made up for the fact that they had no specials. I started with the Zuppa di Sacchetti all' Tartufo Nero which was extremely flavorful. The pasta was beautiful and the broth was cheesy and warm. My entree was less wonderful, however. I had the Tipo di Dentice Grigliato which was cooked perfectly but the saffron risotto was too rich against the red snapper. I almost gave this place five stars until I remembered that I didnt really enjoy my entree as much as I should have....I almost forgot because the service and atmosphere was superb. plus the coffee was cold.

From Start to finish this meal was amazing. My wife and I were in town for a wedding. Read other reviews and opted to have a romantic dinner for two. -5 course meal selected by the chef at an amazing price. -Staff was spot on. -Great wine recommended by the chef to complement the meal

The wife and I went to Ristorante Brissago last night and did the 4 course experience with wine pairing and it was truly out of this world. We will be back soon!! Yum!

Had dinner last night at Brissago. It was vet good. The grand Geneva is outstanding me this restaurant was top notch Italian. The only reason why it did not get 5 stars was our waiter was not overly friendly. He was considerate but missed a few a key things. Food was great and price was reasonable for this type of hotel. I would good agin for sure.

What a disappointment! I decided to take my wife and parents out for a nice dinner while in Lake Geneva and it did not go well. The service and atmosphere were okay, nothing to brag about though. The food was not good at all. A lot of salt and minimal flavor. I would avoid the ravioli, osso buco and the veal tenderloin. After dinner we decided to skip the sweets and get out of there. After spending $225 after tip I was left very unsatisfied. Oh well....

Loved this place. Why leave Grand Geneva resort when you can eat here? My better half and I decided to try Brissago after several previous attempts when it had always been closed on the day of our stay. We were greeted and seated promptly and noticed a unique wine decanter on the table, which we decided to try with a great bottle of red wine. We went with a moderately priced ($35) bottle of Italian Primitivo which was presented and poured into the decanter, which greatly enhanced the flavor. Good start. Cheers! We dove right into starters with the calamari which was served on a bed of amazing pesto-like sauce for a unique twist, and the bruschetta with proscuitto, which was equally delicious. Two for two. Saluté! After asking for some input from our vibrant and accommodating server, Elizabeth, the Mr. decided on the Lobster Spaghetti con l'Aragosta Lemirandi (homemade pasta with huge lobster pieces topped with pecorino cheese). This was a hit, and I was also very fat and happy with my Pappardelle con Pollo e Fricassee (wide, flat pasta noodles with chicken in a tasty tomato-based sauce). Usually being a couple of dessert deserters, we were having such a great time that we couldn't resist the flourless chocolate cake. They even let us leave with the rest of our glasses of wine, which we took outside for a late evening stroll outside the resort. This was one of the very best meals I have had at Grand Geneva, and certainly the best I ever had in the town of Lake Geneva (see my Popeye's review!) if you're looking for a great Northern Italian menu with great service, try Brissago.

This place was amazing! When we went there was a choice to choose a 5 course meal for $60/person. Not being able to put down that offer, we took them up on it and I am so glad we did. Every bit of food here was amazing and the server was extremely courteous. At one point he noticed my girlfriend had stepped away to the bathroom so he waited to bring the food so he could present it. At the end he gave us complimentary shots of limoncello to try because he heard us talking about it during dinner when we weren't talking about how good the food was. While some of the menu items seemed a bit pricey, I walked away feeling like we got a deal and I was extremely satisfied. Next time we are in Lake Geneva this place will definitely be on the list of places to go!

I'd say this is more than 3 but less than 4 stars...I'll round down because I'm mean. First, the good: I ordered the fillet and LOVED it. Don't know if it was the booze talking, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The wine was also pretty decent, and service was solid. Oh, minus stars because the tomatoes on the caprese salad were sort of sad and I found the buffalo mozzarella underwhelming (but I am picky about cheese, so do with that what you will). Also, the fiance ordered a penne pasta with this talked-up house-made spicy sausage and it was not really very good. Spicy, but the spices seemed off. Too much fire without enough taste.

Wonderful experience - we made reservations online and everything was truly seemless. My husband noted in the online reservation that I had a gluten intolerance and couldn't have wheat, barley, rye. As we checked in with the maitre'd, he welcomed us and said that they had gluten free pasta ready for me if I wanted it. Wow!!!!!! Awesome. We were seated right in front of the window at a wonderful table. Our server greeted us almost immediately again telling us that if I wanted pasta, the kitchen had it for us. Ultimately, I went with the halibut with celery root puree which was incredible. The server double checked everything for me and I had a wonderful, gluten free meal. I also had the caprese salad with the bufala mozzarella from Italy - you *must* try this cheese. It is the best cheese I have ever had in my life!!!! Finished off with a flourless chocolate cake. Brilliant. My husband had the filet - which he described as "melt in your mouth". You could literally cut it with a butter knife because it was so tender and lovely. Highly recommended. Great service, ambiance and food!

I was torn between 4 and 5 stars but what the hell I'll go with 5. The pasta alone deserves a 5. I got the lobster spaghetti and it was truly out of this world. The dinner was pricey even with getting one of the less expensive bottles of wine offered, so it falls into the splurge category. I guess that's the reason I would've given it 4 stars. For my money I would prefer to eat a really expensive meal in a place with incredible atmosphere too, and you are not going to find that at Brissago. There were kids and athletic shoes, neither of which I want to see while I'm eating a $200 meal.
